Type Poster

This project started as a typography experiment and developed into a conceptual poster.

This large format poster began as a simple typography experiment to visually depict type though unconventional methods. The copy is comprised of a famous speech made by Bobby Kennedy to the young people of South Africa on the Day of Affirmation in 1966. I began with tearing, photocopying, and skewing the printed type. Through these experiments, I photographed and developed the final distorted print with a light source from behind. I further enhanced the type digitally. Kennedy's inspiring speech is illustrated through the photograph’s illusion — hope peering through after a long fight against discrimination. He inspired others to have a vision past their current situation and hope for a greater future.
